Miss Missouri's Outstanding Teen 2012
Shelby is a 17 year old senior at Francis Howell High School, where she is a 2012 member of the yearbook/newspaper staff, DECA, varsity girls swim team, choir, and speech and debate team. With 13 years of dance training, 8 years of piano study, and 4 years of vocal study she has had the opportunity to perform in front of crowds of more than 11,000 people with professional companies including the MUNY, Radio City Rockettes High School Dance Intensive program-NYC, Saint Louis Ballet Company, COCA, and in Michael Feinstein's opening number of the Macy's Day parade, "Give me a Drum". Academically, she is a member of the National Quill and Scroll Journalism Honors Society, and an honors/AP coursework student. She currently holds the title of DECA district champion in sports and entertainment marketing, and is ranked 3rd in the state of Missouri for MSHSAA Speech and Debate in the category of radio broadcasting. In her free time, she enjoys golfing, going to the lake with her friends, go-karting, and bike trekking. Shelby has even bike trekked through the deserts of New Mexico- rattlesnakes and all!
